Mothers of the World
Like the monarch butterfly
I flew from your lap
To a far away place
But wherever I go,
I see you
In moms of all ages
All shapes and colors
With babies in strollers
Or as soccer moms
Spending their lives
Worrying about kids’ studies
Food and happiness
Like mother earth
They tolerate
The use, the abuse
Their heart’s desire
To make the baby’s life better
Does not matter
Whether the baby is 50 years old
In all of them
I see you, my beloved mom
My passage to this life
My creator and sustainer
I am inseparable
Even though
Like a monarch butterfly
I flew away from your lap.
